Tough, dependable and not overly expensive, Venture-class cruisers are usually constructed by private corporations for escort duty or by small non-aligned worlds for system defense.

The Venture-class ships are perhaps the most widely used civilian cruisers in the Sector. The blueprints for the Venture are widely available and can often be secured without too much trouble.

When used by small corporations, the ship is usually the pride of the fleet and is used to underpin vital operations. Due to its ubiquity, the vessel also serves with quite a few pirate outfits, where it sometimes fills the role of command ship.

Fanatics of the Luddic Path have made this ship their own, stripping out all unnecessary furnishing and transforming it into a haphazard vehicle of holy war.

A series of ambitious modifications have been made to this Venture in some dark shipyard on the outer rim. The hangar space and ore bays have been replaced by a hard point capable of mounting an enormous missile launcher, munitions storage, and a largely reliable generic autoloader system. The fact that this missile launcher is rear-facing has inspired a great number of colorful nicknames for this hull variant by crew and foe alike.

Overview[]

The Venture is a cheap exploration cruiser with built-in Surveying Equipment, generous cargo capacity and above average range. It is widely available and has remarkably low supply use. In combat it's a low-tech ship through and through, with good armor and hull and poor flux dissipation/shield.

Care should be taken when using the Venture because its Civilian-grade Hull-enlarged sensor profile can attract a lot of unwanted attention both inside and outside of core worlds. Fitting Militarized Subsystems and/or Insulated Engine Assembly is recommended.

Variants[]

The stock Venture comes with built-in Mining Pod Drone Wing and surprising amount of frontal missile firepower, especially when combined with its Fast Missile Racks system.

The Pirate variant of the Venture replaces the hangar with 1 large missile slot facing backwards, limiting the type of missile you might place to ones that have a tracking ability, or putting unguided missiles into an unconventional role. It tends to be extremely tight on flux as it features four medium ballistic mounts.

The Luddic Path variant also loses the drones but omits the usual Safety Overrides in favour of Orion Device instead, considerably improving its rather anemic speed.

The Bonk[]

The Luddic Path variant of the Venture is able to ram targets at extreme speed using the burst from its Orion Device. Unlike the Retribution, the Venture is better armored than any Battlecruiser, letting it handle collisions better in most situations.

The system also creates an actual explosion behind the ship, providing some coverage to the rear in a similar manner to Canister Flak.
