Extremely fast, well-armed, and with a long engagement range, the Thunder's strength lies in enabling a carrier to rapidly project force at the desired location. Not as damaging as a bomber or as tough as a heavy fighter, it will falter if forced into a prolonged engagement.

The Thunder is an extremely fast interceptor with extra range to match, carrying the trifecta of kinetic/explosive/EMP weaponry all in one craft - and unlike most other fighters it also has enough flux dissipation to fire them all indefinitely. Unfortunately it is also expensive and with only 2 fighters per wing, mediocre armor/hull values and long replacement time. The LDMG and Ion Cannon it carries also have trouble staying on target due to Thunder's extreme speed.
