Fusion lamp
A minituarized, variable-output fusion reactor capable of providing ample light and heat to a planet.

Safe operation requires prodigious quantities of volatiles. If the demand is not met, the reactor suffers from potentially hazardous instability, which may lead to an uncontrolled surge in output. Litigation over whether this device is of inherently unsafe design or simply used unsafely were ongoing in Domain courts at the time of the Collapse.

The Orbital Fusion Lamp is a special Colony item. It can be installed into the Population & Infrastructure industry.

Orbital Fusion Lamps have a base price of 150 000 credits.

Effects[]

Lamp in orbit

A lamp orbiting a cryovolcanic world.

Counters the effect of Cold, Extreme Cold, Poor Light, and Darkness. To work out the positive effects of removal of these conditions, see Market Conditions. Increases heat on non-cold planets which can be used to turn already hot planet into an extremely hot one, getting full effect from Cryoarithmetic Engine.

Adds demand for 10 units of volatiles. If installed alongside any kind of AI core this demand is reduced by 1, which can be useful on planets with low accessibility.

Increases Pather interest by 4.

When the volatiles requirement is not fully met, the improvement to hazard rating is reduced proportionally.

The player can interact with the lamp object to change its light color.

Acquiring[]

As an industry item added in version 0.95, the Orbital Fusion Lamp can be found in all Special Item spawning locations.
