The Hydra weapon system launches a clutch of semi-independently maneouverable DEM platforms from a single device. The submunitions maneouver to flank the primary shield of the target - assumed to be directed towards the threat of the attacker - and only then unleash beamfire.

Hydra MDEM Launcher fires a missile which splits into 6 smaller missiles roughly halfway towards the target. The smaller missiles will try to flank the target from both sides, then fire a short burst of laser from 700 units away. While the individual beams are weaker than those found on Gorgon DEM SRM, the combined total damage can be devastating to smaller ships like frigates or destroyers.
