Frigates[]

The smallest sizing of ships, Frigates are relatively fragile yet fast ships that are the cheapest to field and maintain.

Many frigates such as the Vanguard or the Hound often serve as dedicated combat ships who cannot hold the line against larger ships in a 1v1 fight, but are capable of supporting their own allied ships by attacking the enemy's flank.

There are also other more specialized ships such as the Afflictor with its Entropy Amplifier, or the Omen with its EMP Emitter who can use powerful ship system abilities to provide a powerful strategic utility in battle.

Frigate Guide[]

When piloting a Frigate, use their often-superior speed to avoid enemy fire and catch up to fleeing enemy vessels. It is recommended to stick close to other frigates to amplify the amount of damage that can be done to the enemy, and to prevent the enemy from being able to focus-fire upon your own frigate. Be aware you are piloting a very fragile ship that could very well be destroyed if the enemy gets off several shots on your hull.

When fielding Frigates on the field, they can serve well in groups at locking down enemy ships that are too far away from the rest of the enemy fleet to support, as well as flanking enemy ships to allow larger ships to get a killing blow. Your Frigates will take damage however, and losses are to be expected.

In chasing battles where the enemy is already fleeing from the start, Frigates, unlike the rest of the fleet, are allowed to deploy from the Left and Right side of battle, allowing them to quickly blockade the enemy fleet from fleeing past the middle. This requires fast ships however, and slower frigates may not be able to catch up to faster enemy ships that slip past your blockade.
