Fighters are small ships that generally travel in groups of two, three or four (the exception being the Wasp-class that travels in a group of 6). They come in various forms, including interceptors, bombers, heavy fighters, assault fighters and support fighters. Depending on their role and stats, fighters can be well-suited to escorting larger ships, harassment attacks, and/or performing strike missions.
Fighters are an equipped item on ships with carrier capabilities. Fighter wings follow the commands of their parent vessel. In addition, the only vessel that can replenish their numbers is the vessel that equips them. The rate of replacement is dependent on the replacement rate of the carrier but stops completely when the carrier's Combat readiness reaches 0. Fighters can be toggled to engage or regroup. When regrouping they will loiter around the carrier or shelter behind the carrier if they are bombers.
