The Apogee-class vessels are an effective mix of advanced scientific and military technologies, perfect for long- range exploration of hostile space.

The class features an asymmetric design with a large forward section, usually outfitted with long-range tech scanners. Apogee captains are used to operating alone and tend to be an independent, self-reliant lot.

The ship can hold its own in one-on-one engagements by smart use of its powerful shield emitter and strong engines. However, its armor rating makes it seem somewhat fragile on paper, and thus is rarely part of big fleet actions.

The high construction costs typically mean that only affluent tech mining consortiums can afford an Apogee-class vessel that is fully outfitted for an aggressive exploratory role.

  • Reduced fuel/ly from 3 to 2
  • Increased fuel capacity from 150 to 200
  • Increased cargo capacity from 300 to 400
  • Changed arc of large front hardpoint to 10 degrees (was: 5)
  • Changed coverage of medium turrets to not cover front and overlap in the back
  • Reduced deployment and supplies/month costs to 18 (was: 25)

Old version Notes[edit | edit source]

An extremely versatile ship that can be configured to operate in almost any fleet role. If equipped with a large weapon mount that is capable of generating hard flux such as the Plasma Cannon or Autopulse Laser it can easily dispatch most other cruisers due to generous flux stats. Outfitting an Apogee is often an exercise in working around it's somewhat awkward slots & making hard design concessions.

The Apogee is able to make unusually good use of the Squall MLRS for off-bore kinetic damage paired with a High Intensity Laser for direct fire High Explosive damage.
